The Inter American University of Puerto Rico at Barranquitas aims to provide a platform to discuss recent advances in diverse areas of biology that can eventually lead to sustainable socio-economic development of communities on islands such as Puerto Rico. We hope to bring together local, national and international researchers over a period of three days at Barranquitas in Puerto Rico.

Inter American University of Puerto Rico, Barranquitas Campus (IAUPR-BC) is one of eleven academic units of the Inter American University of Puerto Rico.  Barranquitas Campus, founded in 1957, is the largest institution of higher education located in the central mountainous region of Puerto Rico. The campus provides educational opportunities for the population in an area with limited access to higher education. Barranquitas has a pleasant climate and lush natural vegetation spotted with quaint settlements.
