Passport and visa requirements for entering Puerto Rico are the same as for entering the United States of America. US travelers visiting Puerto Rico do not require a passport, but must carry a valid government issued photo ID.
There are two international airports in Puerto Rico: Luis Muñoz Marín, commonly known as San Juan International Airport (SJU) located on the municipality of Carolina on the northeast of the island, and Rafael Hernández Airport (BQN) located in the municipality of Aguadilla on the west coast of the island.
Barranquitas is nestled in the mountains at a driving distance of about 35 miles from San Juan. Much of the way consists of winding roads through the mountains. Due to lack of public transport in the mountain municipalities, a preferred choice for many visitors is to rent a car when they arrive at San Juan airport. The organizers will also provide pick-up and drop facility from the hotel to interested participants at a cost of $50.00 USD for the duration of the conference. Please note that this will be a once a day, to and from arrangement between the participant’s place of stay and the conference venue and in accordance with the conference timings.
Barranquitas is a mountain municipality and the university campus is located at the heart of the town of Barranquitas. The Canyon Hotel (or El Canon Guest House) is a stone’s throw from the campus and has all the basic facilities for a comfortable stay. Many other options are also available for booking in and around Barranquitas through websites such as Air B&B. Participants who prefer chain-brand or independent hotels in an urban area offering a wider array of facilities would find suitable accommodation in the cities of San Juan and Bayamon.
